MS1 Class Information – Nov. 9, 2023

Directory of faculty projects is now available

You can now view the Triple I Canvas site and Summer Research Database. Keep an eye on the sites for updates and look for announcements from somiii@uw.edu.

Students who choose Scholarship of Discovery (SoD) and Integration (SoI) will complete their modules on this Canvas site, but SoD/SoI modules will not open until after the application and acceptance process has been completed for the Triple I department.

RUOP timing update

The final commitment deadline for the Rural Underserved Opportunities Program (RUOP) will be Friday, Jan. 19, 2023. Applications open Dec. 1, 2023, and close on Jan. 4, 2024.

Introduction to Career Planning sessions 

Seattle students:

Session content includes:

  • Key information and resources to support specialty and career exploration
  • Preparing for 1:1 Career Advising appointments. These happen anytime January through May 2024.
  • Answering your career planning questions! We will send you the slide deck in advance so you can review it and bring questions.

Set yourself up for success in career planning from Foundations to Match with Career Advisor Tonja Brown.

This session will give you the key basic concepts and resources that every MS1 needs to know to create a career plan. Brown will:

  • Answer your questions around career and specialty exploration
  • Provide information and resources to launch your exploration
  • Prepare you for 1:1 MS1 Career Advising Appointments, which will happen in winter and spring quarters

Spokane students:

Clinical research summer externship available

The Robert A. Winn Clinical Investigator Pathway Program (Winn CIPP) for medical students is designed to increase diversity in clinical trials and transform the clinical research landscape.

Winn CIPP is a 6-week intensive and immersive summer service-learning externship that provides medical students who are underrepresented in medicine (URiM) and/or from a disadvantaged background with opportunities to experience and participate in clinical research conducted in community-based clinical research settings.
