Tuition & Financial Aid

The 2024-2025 school year is starting off with major changes to the financial aid application, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please be patient with the School of Medicine Financial Aid Office (FAO) and the University of Washington’s Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) as we navigate these changes. The School of Medicine FAO works in conjunction with OSFA to process your applications. Please direct all questions to the School of Medicine FAO for speedier/specialized assistance with regards to medical school financial aid.

After submitting your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you will receive a confirmation email from the University of Washington’s Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA). If you need to submit any additional information, OSFA will contact you beginning in late March/early April. OSFA will send out financial aid award emails to admitted students with instructions for reviewing your financial aid package in April (estimated). Any student needing financial aid in Summer Quarter will need to fill out an additional Summer Aid Application in MyUW (available 4/1/24). You will need your UW student ID number in order to receive a financial aid award, and your UW NetID to view your financial aid award.

For students taking out financial aid, please review the following resources prior to reaching out with questions:

If you have additional questions about financial aid not answered by the resources listed above, please refer to the SOM Financial Aid Office website for information about timelines, general financial information, etc. You can also send an email to somfao@uw.edu.

SOM Financial Aid will present to you during orientation, and you will have the opportunity to set up appointments for individual/small group financial aid overviews at that time.
