MS4 Class Information – April 11, 2024

Paying it forward

Please consider supporting UWSOM students by completing the optional Paying it Forward – Programs Survey. Many of you have told us that you benefited from Career Advising’s residency interviews and Match data when you were creating your residency program lists. Your input will strengthen UWSOM data to provide evidence-based, specialty-specific advising for future students. Your data will only be shared in aggregate, without student identifiers.

The survey will be open until April 30.

Take a survey and provide insights for future UWSOM students

Please consider being a resource for future UWSOM students by adding your name to the Residents in Medicine (RIM) Directory. On Monday, March 4, you received an email from medadv@quemailserver.com with the subject line, Join: Residents in Medicine Directory and a Qualtrics survey link.

Adding your name to the directory allows students to contact you about your residency program, specialty, career paths and the residency application process in general. Please consider completing the optional identity-based questions so that students of underrepresented identities can easily connect with residents with similar identities.

Many thanks to Idaho students and others who have completed the GQ survey

Here is a message from Sara Kim, Ph.D., research professor, surgery, associate dean for Educational Quality Improvement:

Our school’s response rate to the AAMC Graduation Questionnaire is 45 percent (vs. 55 percent nationally). A huge accolade to the Idaho students, who reached a 65 percent response rate, making it the first class to be eligible for the first round of gift card drawing. We are seeing steady increases or no change in other campuses including Spokane (40 percent, up 5 percentage points), Seattle (34 percent, up 4), Montana (55 percent, up 3), Wyoming (50 percent), and Alaska (45 percent).

We are offering exciting incentives this year in pursuit of our goal of an 85 percent response. Please refer to the table below that specifies how $20 gift cards will be raffled based on the size of each campus-based cohort. We will draw names when the survey closes.

It’s important that you keep the receipt issued by AAMC to receive the gift card, or, you can forward your receipt to eqi@uw.edu if you would like us to keep it in case your name is drawn.

SURVEY INCENTIVES

Important note about prizes: According to the UW policy, student employees (e.g., tutors, research assistants, hourly workers, etc.) cannot receive a gift card. If you win the raffle as a student employee, we will send alternative items of $20 value from Amazon.

To find the survey link, please look for an email sent by AAMC (gq@aamc.org). Thank you so much for your time and input into the survey!

Expanded MS4s, please take the Specialty & Residency Planning Survey

MS3s and Expanded MS4s, this Friday, April 5, you will receive an email from medadv@quemailserver.com with the subject line, Response Needed: Specialty & Residency Planning Survey for Match 2025 – Due April 16.

The email contains a Qualtrics survey link and is a trustworthy email.

Because Qualtrics is new to us, the email will say “from an untrusted sender” — but this is a trustworthy link for a required survey. This is what the warning looks like. But please do take the survey.
