Help in a study of collaboration and earn $50
Want to help promote collaboration among physician teams?! Investigators are looking for MS3 and MS4 students to participate in a qualitative study of specialty identity formation. Participants will be offered a $50 gift card for one hour of their time.
What does participation entail?
- Those selected will be scheduled for a 60-minute Zoom interview.
- You will be asked about your experience in determining what specialties you might want to pursue and how the learning environment impacts your perception of specialties.
- Interviews will be recorded and transcribed.
- All transcriptions will be de-identified and confidential.
- You will receive a $50 gift card of your choice.

Seattle volunteer opportunity
The Office of Healthcare Equity is looking for early rising volunteers who’d be willing to help at the PNW African American Male Wellness Walk in Renton on Aug. 6.
UW Medicine and Valley Medical Center will be running the health screening stations for participants checking blood pressure, pulse, cholesterol/hba1c/blood sugar, and heart rate on attendees. This is a great opportunity for our medical students to get out into the community, notes Priscilla Estrada, Community and Workforce Engagement Specialist, Office of Healthcare Equity.
The team is in need for volunteers to help support the health screening stations, help attendees fill out paperwork, etc, she said.
Schedule: 6 a.m. volunteer arrival (Screenings will be done prior to the walk starting at 7 a.m.). The event ends at noon.

ICYMI MS4 Curriculum Vitae (CV) group review sessions by Career Advising
When: Friday, Aug. 5 and Aug. 19
Time: 11 to 11:30 a.m. AK, Noon to 12:30 p.m. PT, 1 to 1:30 pm MT
These interactive group sessions are a great way to further develop your CV so you can be prepared as you apply to residency.
You will submit your draft CV at the time of registering for the session. Career Advisors will review your CV and provide you with detailed individualized feedback after you attend the session. This is not a peer-review process. Individual CVs are not discussed during the session.
