The application process for the Scholarship of Discovery will open in the Fall of 2024. 

The Scholarship of Discovery constitutes a rigorous framework of empirical inquiry, fostering the genesis of novel insights through original research endeavors. Central to this approach is the formulation of hypotheses positing relationships between variables, subsequently subjected to validation through meticulous observation. The scope of inquiry encompasses diverse methodological avenues, including basic laboratory studies, surveys, secondary analyses of existing datasets, chart reviews, qualitative investigations, and prospective clinical trials. 

Aligned with the III Scholarship Requirement, empirical research inquiries may span a broad spectrum of medical disciplines. Typically, projects fall within the following thematic categories: 

  1. Laboratory-based Research
  2. Clinical Research
  3. Health Services Research
  4. Quality Improvement Initiatives

  Participating students will commit to full-time engagement (~30 hours per week) in their research projects for a minimum duration of eight weeks during the Summer term, bridging the interval between the first and second years of medical school.
