ICYMI: Compliance deadline for data stewardship is Nov. 15, 2024
UW Medicine requires all medical students to learn how to properly safeguard confidential information and comply with standards for personal accountability for data stewardship. All students, including concurrent degree/MSTP students and students on leave of absence, are required to maintain compliance. Please complete the UW Privacy, Confidentiality, and Information Security Agreement (PCISA) requirement in the To-Do List of your UW71 CastleBranch account [mycb.castlebranch.com]. The deadline is Nov. 15, 2024.
Read everything you need to know to comply with the requirement in this full announcement: https://education.uwmedicine.org/blog/2024/10/29/data-stewardship-compliance-deadline/.
Peer to Peer: Road to Residency Tip of the Month
As you know, third year is busy! Something you can do to thank your future self is to update your CV whenever you have some down time (for example, during a month off or a “chill” rotation). Having a solid CV is necessary for away rotation applications that you’ll be preparing in the Winter. You’ll also use this info almost word-for-word in ERAS when you’re applying. Check out the CV page for videos and the CV template.
As you are mapping out fourth year, use the Clinical Phase Planning Worksheet from Career Advising’s 4th Year Career Planning webpage. Then, be sure to meet with your career advisor in November and December to go over specialty choice(s). If away rotations are expected/suggested, make sure to familiarize yourself with the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) website. Residency programs may also provide scholarships for visiting students, so make sure to browse their websites for deadlines!
Read the Specialty Guides for your specialties and use the Course Catalog to see which Sub-I’s, APCs, and electives you might want to take in the fourth year.
