Why Sign Up for a Mock Interview?
- Build your confidence: Get the opportunity to familiarize yourself with common interview questions and refine your answers in a low-pressure environment.
- Receive constructive feedback: Physician interviewers will provide personalized feedback on your performance, helping you identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Allows you to practice: Learn how to effectively communicate your experience, strengths, and motivation for your chosen specialty. It also allows you to run through the technical and logistical setup.

UW hosts Virtual Diversity Recruitment Town Hall on Sept. 5
The University of Washington’s Network of Underrepresented Residents & Fellows (UW NURF) and Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) cordially invites you to participate in their Virtual Diversity Recruitment Town Hall on Thursday, Sept. 5. The event starts at 5 p.m. AK, 6 p.m. PT, 7 p.m. MT.
This event welcomes prospective applicants from underrepresented/disadvantaged backgrounds and allies with the goal to introduce them to the University of Washington graduate opportunities and discuss some of the most frequently asked questions. There will be specialty specific zoom sessions at the end of the event for you to interact with residents and faculty with the programs that most interest you.

Survey response rises to 69% – revised goal is 70%

From Sara Kim, PhD, Research Professor, Department of Surgery and Associate Dean for Educational Quality Improvement: Thank you to everyone who helped raise the survey response rate from 66% to 69%!
This means you are only 1 percentage point away from the goal of reaching 70%. Once your class reaches the goal, we will raffle all unused $10 gift cards to you (see incentives below). You can choose to use your gift card with different vendors such as Amazon, Apple, Uber Eats, and many other stores, restaurants and movie theatres!
This week’s accolade goes to Spokane (82%) with a 6 percentage point increase in response rate this week! Montana holds the highest response rate (96%), followed by Wyoming (95%), Idaho (82%, up 3 points), Seattle (51%, up 3 points), and Alaska (47%). We are grateful for your time in completing this short survey. A reminderwas sent Wednesday, Aug. 21, this week to those who haven’t completed the survey.

Opportunities outside of UW Medicine
Residency in Philadelphia: The Offices of Graduate Medical Education and Diversity Inclusion Initiatives invite Underrepresented in Medicine (URiM) medical students to a Sept. 3 webinar if they might be interested in learning about residency training programs at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Gain firsthand knowledge from program directors and residents about life in Philadelphia, graduate medical education, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion activities.
