MS3 Class Information – June 8, 2023

Travel reimbursements may be delayed

The University of Washington is in the final month of a multi-year “finance transformation” process. During the transition between systems, all payments from the University will be paused for a brief period during the official switch from old to new systems. All reimbursements for travel that have not been submitted to the current system will have to wait until July 5 to be submitted to the new system.

If you have not already submitted a reimbursement request, you will not be reimbursed until mid-July at the earliest. The WWAMI travel team is working as quickly as possible to get all received requests paid now, but we cannot guarantee the payments will be approved in time to be paid before July. UWSOM doesn’t control the approval process; we just submit the requests to upper campus.

Please continue to submit reimbursement requests to gowwami@uw.edu, and we will process them in July, in the order received.

  •  If you are registered but should not be: You will be charged for courses you do not attend and may receive a failing grade.

Here’s why we’re asking you to do this:The school has registered students for Summer quarter clerkships with the UW Office of the University Registrar. Follow any prompts that the University indicates. Let the school know immediately at somreg@uw.edu if you are not registered for this course, but should be, or if you are registered, but should not be. DO NOT adjust your registration in MyUW – instead, contact the team at somreg@uw.edu.

Still an opportunity to win prizes and share opinions with the school

Here is a message from Sara Kim, Ph.D., associate dean for Educational Quality Improvement:

This week’s survey increase from 59 percent to 62 percent participation was contributed by Seattle (59 percent vs. 56 percent), Spokane (58 percent vs. 56 percent), Montana (76 percent vs. 72 percent), and Idaho (64 percent vs. 56 percent). We still welcome all of your input so we can close the survey at 70 percent this year.

For those who started the survey, you can return to the same link and pick up where you left off. The customized survey link is emailed to you by eqi@uw.edu every Tuesday afternoon.

Here are the incentives we are offering through a raffle at the end of the survey period this month:

Career Advising Student Advisory Board – Tip of the Month

Now is a great time to start writing your personal statement! It is nice to have it done early so you know your narrative well when asked about it on your rotations in your desired field. You’ll also be able to give it to your letter writers so they get to know you better. They may even offer feedback! Of course, you’ll add more to it after your summer rotations, but get started on your Personal Statement now using the career advising resources.
