A message from Sara Kim, Associate Dean for Educational Quality Improvement: Thank you for helping raise the response rate to 39.2 percent compared to 34 percent last week. We are about 10 percent behind the national average, which is normal for this time of the year.

Looking at the regional campus breakdown, Idaho continues to register the highest response rate at 45 percent (last week: 42.5 percent), followed by Spokane (42.9 percent vs. 41.3 percent) and Wyoming (42.9 percent vs. 38.1 percent), Montana (37 percent vs. 33.3 percent), Seattle (36.5 percent vs. 28.1 percent), and Alaska (27.8 percent vs. 22.2 percent). ROL survey due March 31

Students regularly ask Student Affairs for UWSOM data, and many of you told us how much you benefited from the 2017-2020 UWSOM interviews & match specialty data we shared with you when you were creating your program lists. The ROL survey is for our internal UWSOM resource, an example of which is pictured below: UWSOM Interviews & Match data. By completing the survey, you’ll be helping future students identify which programs they might want to apply and strengthen UWSOM data to provide evidence-based, specialty-specific advising for future students.

NOTE: This survey is optional, and the data will only be shared in aggregate without student identifiers. If there are only one to two students in a specialty and for all smaller specialties, we aggregate the data across five or more years to ensure anonymity.

If you choose to complete the ROL survey, please do so by March 31.

Contribute to the TexasSTAR by April 11

As you may recall from last fall, the TexasSTAR is a national resource used to demystify the residency application process. This tool allows you to review specialties and programs, and to compare your profile against students who received interviews and matched to programs in your specialty. Many students reported finding it helpful when building their original program lists.

All graduating MS4s across the country are invited to submit data about their residency application experience in order to build out the resource for future classes. The survey is delivered in REDCap and is completely anonymous. If you applied to more than one specialty, you’ll need to submit a response for each specialty.

Please complete the survey by April 11. The more students who submit data, the more useful the information will be to future applicants!
