DROPPING CLERKSHIPS
If you drop a clerkship before it starts, it’s like you never had those credits:
- If your credits change to 12 credits or less, then the tuition amount changes.
- If you drop to 9 credits or less, we will also need to adjust your living expenses.
- If you already received your aid, we may need to reduce it.
Please email somfao@uw.edu ASAP if you are dropping a clerkship.

TUITION DUE DATE – LATE STARTS
If your aid disburses AFTER the tuition due date, tuition will be paid when you receive your aid. You will not be charged a late fee if you have accepted enough financial aid to cover all charges. You will continue to receive automatic tuition reminders from Student Fiscal Services.
If your clerkship doesn’t start until October or November and you need money sooner, you can apply for a UW short-term loan. It will automatically be repaid when your aid disburses. You can only apply if you don’t have an outstanding UW short-term loans.
You can add your residency application costs (ERAS, SF Match, NRMP) to your budget and receive additional loans. Submit a Revision Request for Additional Expenses with your receipts.
