As an MS1 you will have many onboarding and credentialing requirements related to clinical experiences (e.g., FCM/PCP, RUOP, service learning), some of which will carry a cost for you. The below table provides an overview of the compliance requirements and costs for all MS1s during the first year so you can better plan to complete these compliance requirements and budget for the year. Adding these to your calendar now (including reminders) and completing them on-time according to the instructions will help ensure a smooth transition to clinical experiences and keep you on track to earn the School of Medicine Compliance Award.
Financial Aid budget information: Medical students can submit a “Revision Request for Additional Expenses” for compliance items not covered by their budget such as: vaccines, drug testing, N95 fit testing, tuberculosis testing. Expenses for criminal background checks are already included in the “Cost of Attendance”, under “Books and Supplies” for 2nd and 4th year students. Basic life support (BLS) is included for 1st and 3rd year student budgets under “Books and Supplies”. Contact somfao@uw.edu with questions about financial aid.
