Students already taking E&F courses (on cycle MS4)
When Explore & Focus scheduling through the EVOS optimizer ends, you can adjust your schedule by adding or dropping courses via Open Scheduling.
Two things to keep in mind:
- Permission-only courses continue to require permission. Review the Explore & Focus Catalog.
- There is a 6-week add/drop policy. Review the Clinical Elective Clerkships Add/Drop Policies (last paragraph).
Schedule requests are submitted through the Manage Schedule Request tool in eValue and are processed on a first come, first served basis. To familiarize yourself with the schedule request tool, review our webinar and user guide.
Please note that a schedule pause is in effect. Explore & Focus courses that are offered between 3/30/2026 – 5/8/2026 cannot be added. Exception: Permission-only courses offered during this time period can be added.
Why the pause? The scheduling process for MS3s (who begin E&F in Spring 2026) is taking place. Spring 2026 straddles two academic years (the end of 2025-26 for you and the start of 2026-27 for them), and it’s not possible to schedule courses if availability resides in two different academic years.
Things to Remember
- Fourth-year course scheduling is part of the larger process of planning for your fourth year. Review the Guide to 4th Year Planning.
- Students are responsible for ensuring that they register for all the courses they need to graduate. Review the Graduation requirements by entering class.
- Track your degree process by regularly reviewing your Clerkship Graduation Audit.
- Speak the E&F scheduling language by reviewing Explore & Focus Terms.
