Video Streaming
What is it?
Video plays a prominent role in the School of Medicine’s curricular and extra-curricular resources. These recordings provide preparatory material in advance of an active learning class session, or they capture in-class presentations for later viewing. The Mediasite video platform is our primary video streaming tool.
What do I need to know or do?
The Mediasite video player provides video of the presenter (when available), audio and synchronized slide content.
Videos can be access from your Canvas sites, clerkship web sites, other web sites or email messages from event organizers. Sometimes the video will appear embedded on a web page, as part of a catalog of related videos, or as an external link that opens its own page.
Mediasite videos can best be viewed on a MacOS or Windows computer using Firefox, Chrome, or Safari.
In general, large-group class sessions in Seattle are recorded for on-demand viewing. Here are some things to keep in mind:
- Not all class sessions will be recorded. Some blocks or faculty may choose not to record their sessions.
- Viewing a recording of an in-class session is not a substitute for attendance.
- Recordings will be posted within 24 hours after the end of a class session. Often they will be available on the same day.
