Academic Study Opportunity
The Study Modalities on Academic Performance Research Team is working in collaboration with the MSA and the School of Medicine on a study to better understand what study techniques and resources work well for students in the upcoming R&R block and are hoping for your participation!
All you need to do is fill out 7 electronic short anonymous surveys asking about study modalities, behaviors, and block exam scores. Each survey should take only 5-10 minutes to complete.
Your participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and you can withdraw from the study at any time without any consequence. Students who complete all 7 surveys will be entered into a raffle for which
6 students will receive monetary compensation of a $25 Amazon gift card.
Study Objectives and Specific Aims
The objective of this study is to improve the medical education for current and future medical students at UWSOM.
For this study, we have outlined the following aims:
- Characterize the study behaviors and modalities of E24 medical students during the Respiration and Regulation block
- Understand how different study modalities and third-party educational resources correlate with exam performance
- Offer insights that influence the advice and 3rd party resources that UWSOM provides for students.
Time Commitment: Complete 7 secure electronic REDCap Surveys, each lasting less than 5 minutes.
Compensation: Students who participate will be entered into a raffle for six $25$ Amazon gift cards.
Study Deadline: Saturday, 4/5/25April 5, 2025
You can complete the survey here: https://redcap.iths.org/surveys/?s=DDJT4MTPD47YTHTA

Peer to Peer: Tip of the Month from Career Advising
This advice is for all students and includes first generation and BIPOC student lenses.
MS1: If you haven’t met with your career advisor yet, schedule an appointment by the end of May! (The only exception is March 17-21, when the Career Advisors will be busy supporting MS4s with SOAP/Match Week.) Your career advisor will talk with you about your specialty interests, including the timing of connecting with specialty advisors. Read the extracurriculars advice found in the Foundations Phase section of the Specialty Guides for two specialties that you are interested in.
