Match Day Moments: Meet the Montana WWAMI Students Shaping the Future of Healthcare

Match Day is a defining milestone for Montana WWAMI fourth-year students — the moment when years of rigorous training culminate in residency placements across the country. It’s a day filled with celebration as students get ready to take the next step in their medical careers.

This year, 29 Montana WWAMI students matched into residency programs across 13 states, including Montana, spanning 12 specialties. Nearly half of the class, 45 percent, matched into primary care (internal medicine, family medicine, and pediatrics). With the addition of the needed specialties throughout the state, including general surgery, OB-GYN, and psychiatry, the percentage rises to 72%, underscoring a strong commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of communities across the region.

Meet several students and learn where their journeys are taking them next: Kaylee Stein, Sofia Shomento, Brayden Crowley, Maddy Reichelt, Aubrey Kessel, and Erin Petersen.
