NEUROLOGY LEARNING OBJECTIVES

ACADEMIC YEAR Spring 2024 to Winter 2025
  1. Perform a neurologic exam with proficiency in either the reflex or sensory exam in a clinical setting
  2. Participate in the care of patients with neurological diseases in each of the following categories:
    • Demyelinating disease
    • Dizziness
    • Headache
    • Movement disorder
    • Neuromuscular disease
    • Seizure disorder
    • Cerebrovascular disease
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of:
    • Brain
    • Brain stem
    • Spinal cord
    • Motor neuron
    • Peripheral nerve
    • Neuromuscular junction
    • Muscle with localization of injury
  4. Solicit and apply feedback to improve clinical skills
  5. Identify an area of knowledge gap related to the field of neurology, appraise the scientific literature and give a presentation of the topic
  6. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, colleagues and staff
  7. Discuss a bioethics issue in neurologic care via written reflection
  8. Work collaboratively with team members including faculty, staff and other students
