Policy Reminder

As you continue with your medical education, we encourage you to stay informed about the academic policies that support your success and clarify key expectations. Please take a moment to review the following policies:

These policies remain important resources as you progress through your training. Understanding them can help you navigate requirements and ensure you’re accessing the appropriate support.

For any questions or additional guidance, please reach out to the Office of Student Affairs or your academic advisor.

Underserved Pathway Applications Are Open

Are you passionate about caring for under-resourced and marginalized patients? Join the Underserved Pathway (UP)—open to WWAMI MS1 and MS2 students in any specialty. UP helps you deepen your understanding of rural and urban underserved communities, build advocacy skills inside and outside the clinic, and connect with like-minded students and physicians. Benefits include dedicated faculty advisors, MSPE recognition, and acknowledgment at Hooding with a Certificate of Completion. The application is non-competitive, and you may have already completed several requirements! Apply early to get the most out of UP before clerkships.

Career Advising Student Advisory Board Tip of the Month

We hope Step 1 dedicated is going well! We won’t overwhelm you with career advising tasks but pay attention to which topics you enjoy reviewing. This might be a helpful clue as to which specialty you will enjoy one day. Keep up the great work!  You got this!

At the same time, we know some of you are thinking about your Patient Care Phase schedules and wondering about taking a 2-week, pass/fail elective during your “off-block”. Career Advising recently recorded a short video with Dr. Maya Sardesai, Assistant Dean of Student Development, to address some of your elective block questions. Watch this short video now and review the Elective Selection website for even more info.
