Policy Reminder

As you continue with your medical education, we encourage you to stay informed about the academic policies that support your success and clarify key expectations. Please take a moment to review the following policies:

These policies provide essential guidance to help you navigate the curriculum, understand academic requirements, and access available support. Staying familiar with them will help you plan effectively and stay on track academically.

If you have any questions or need clarification, please contact the Office of Student Affairs or your academic advisor.

Underserved Pathway Applications Are Open

Are you passionate about caring for under-resourced and marginalized patients? Join the Underserved Pathway (UP)—open to WWAMI students in any specialty. UP helps you deepen your understanding of rural and urban underserved communities, build advocacy skills inside and outside the clinic, and connect with like-minded students and physicians. Benefits include dedicated faculty advisors, MSPE recognition, and acknowledgment at Hooding with a Certificate of Completion. The application is non-competitive, and you may have already completed several requirements! Apply early to get the most out of UP before clerkships.

Career Advising Student Advisory Board Tip of the Month

This advice is for all MS1 students and includes first generation and BIPOC student lenses.

The CVS block can be demanding and time-consuming! In previous years, a lot of students benefited from attending weekly group sessions hosted by peer tutors! If unable to attend live, you can watch the session recordings that cover high-yield concepts from class.

Additionally, remember that all the physicians teaching and mentoring you at this stage are possible resources beyond the classroom. Get to know your small group leads! You can always ask them about their specialty and how they decided on a specialty when they were in your shoes!
