Road to Residency (R2R) Planning & Away Rotations – December 15 

Monday, December 15:  

11:00-11:45 PM PT: Road to Residency: Residency Application Planning & Career Advising Services & Resources – All Students Attend 

11:45-12:30 PM PT: Away Rotation Planning – Optional for Students Considering an Away Rotation

Both sessions will be recorded and posted on the Career Advising website and on the Integrations Canvas page.  

Session Overview 

This session offers guidance on specialty and career planning, residency applications, and away rotation preparation during the Patient Care Phase. Students will learn how to use data and resources to evaluate their general level of competitiveness for specialties of interest, create parallel plans, and build strong application & match strategies.  

The optional second 45 minute away rotation session will help students understand the use of away rotations and how to plan for them.

Final Reminder: Nominate a Keynote Speaker for the Physician’s Oath & Hooding Ceremony 

This is a final reminder that nominations are open until Sunday for the keynote speaker for the Physician’s Oath & Hooding Ceremony via the following link: Speaker nomination form. The ceremony speaker must be a member of the UWSOM/WWAMI faculty. Nominations will close on December 15. 


U.S. Public Health Service Award for Excellence in Public Health 

The U.S. Public Health Service is sponsoring a 2026 Award for Excellence in Public Health, recognizing a graduating UWSOM medical student for outstanding commitment to service learning and public health. Eligible activities include developing or implementing public health programs, contributing to USPHS mission–aligned initiatives, serving medically underserved communities, conducting relevant research, or collaborating with public health agencies. 

Self-nomination deadline: Friday, December 19.
