Register for Non-Clinical Electives

Non-Clinical Electives are available now for Registration! Please register as soon as possible, since some courses will begin as early as Monday, September 14.

Please visit the following webpages to view the electives offered at your site:

Important points to keep in mind:

  • Students register for electives just as they do for required blocks, so you must follow the University of Washington registration deadlines. You can find the registration deadlines on the UW Academic Calendar
  • WAMI students, contact your site admin to register for available courses.
  • Tuesday, October 6, 2026 is when the late registration fee ($20) begins.
  • Electives are not required. ALL School of Medicine coursework (especially required sessions) takes priority over electives.
  • Elective courses may sometimes allow medical students to miss a session or two (with prior approval) if there is an overlap with an SOM exam or required coursework. Please speak with the elective faculty or administrator if there appears to be any conflicts.
  • Under no circumstance can an exam be missed for elective coursework. Exams must take priority.
  • Electives do not always run on the same schedule as medical school classes. Please double-check the dates and times, including final exam times, start and end dates, etc.
  • If you register for the course and do not participate, you will receive an NC grade. Please drop the course if you are not planning to attend.
  • If you need assistance with dropping courses, please contact somreg@uw.edu

To find out more information about registration deadlines, late course changes/adds/drops etc. for NCEs, please visit the Non-Clinical Elective Registration webpage
