Need DRS Location Accommodations for Clerkships? Apply NOW!

If you believe you might qualify for a clerkship location accommodation related to a medical condition or disability, you must apply through UW Disability Resources for Students (DRS) and receive approval before accommodations can be reflected in your Patient Care and Explore & Focus schedules. Because the DRS review and approval process can take 2-5 weeks (and sometimes longer), you’re strongly encouraged to begin the process now before the Patient Care scheduling process begins.

If you plan to begin Patient Care clerkships in Spring 2027 and need a clerkship location accommodation, complete the steps below now:

  • If you are not currently registered with DRS: Review and complete the three-step DRS Application Process, which includes submitting an online application and supporting documentation. Once all materials have been received, you will be added to the queue for an initial meeting with the School of Medicine DRS Access Specialist, Eric Trekell.
  • If you are already registered with DRS and receiving accommodations: Please schedule an appointment with Eric Trekell (uwdrs@uw.edu) if you would like to discuss a clerkship location accommodation.

Important information about accommodations and the process to request them is available on the DRS website. Additional guidance can also be found on the SOM/UW Disability Resources & Accommodations webpage
