Connect with Rural Residency Programs for Virtual Conversations
Interested in pursuing rural practice? Want to learn more about what is involved in a rural residency training program? The Rural Medical Training Collaborative (RMTC) is hosting a virtual event designed to connect medical students with current residents, staff, and faculty from multiple rural residency programs.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Browse virtual “booths” of participating programs in a low-pressure environment
- Ask questions directly to program faculty, staff, and residents. For students looking for a more in-depth connection, participating programs offer chances to jump into a video call with representatives
- Compare programs to better understand fit, culture, and training experience
- Walk away with a clearer sense of where you want to apply
The event is completely free, but students must register in order to attend.

Career Advising Student Advisory Board Tip of the Month
This advice is for all MS3 students and includes first generation and BIPOC student lenses.
If you haven’t already, begin drafting your CV using the resources on Career Advising’s CV resource page! This will save you time this summer as you begin to work on your residency application.
Also, it is helpful to start brainstorming ideas for your personal statement now. Reviewing notes from your rotations can help you identify meaningful experiences and begin shaping your personal and specialty narrative. Starting early also makes it easier to discuss your goals during rotations in your desired field. Many letter of recommendation writers will ask for your CV and personal statement to better understand you, personalize their letters, and may offer feedback. While you’ll likely add more after summer rotations, beginning now using Career Advising resources can provide a strong foundation before the required Personal Statement workshop during June Clinical Integration Week for Match 2027 applicants.
