Dear MS3 and MS4 students,
The Innovations in Curriculum Design and Delivery (ICDD) Workgroup is entering its fourth year, and we invite you to apply to join us as a student representative.
ICDD brings together faculty, staff, and students from all sites to promote an inclusive Foundations Phase curriculum that enhances learning, innovation, and engagement through educational best practices. Here’s what we’ve worked on in the past three years:
- 2022–23: Developed 12 recommendations (attached).
- 2023–24: Created implementation plans.
- 2024–25: Supported units in activating those plans.
This year, in addition to ongoing advising, we’re adding two new activities:
- Innovation Incubator (Sept, Nov, Jan, Mar, May). Any faculty/staff/student can bring an innovation idea and get consulting about how to improve their project. ICDD members will serve as the core Innovation Consultants, and additional ad hoc Innovation Consultants will be invited when needed. Our role is to provide guidance to support and help refine ideas, not approve or reject them.
- Guest Presentations (Oct, Dec, Feb, Apr) – Virtual talks from external speakers on curriculum design and delivery, followed by a UWSOM discussion on applying insights locally. These sessions will be open to the UWSOM community.
As a student who has completed the Foundations Phase and moved into the clinical phases of our curriculum, you have an important perspective on how the Foundations curriculum is designed and delivered. You can join as an Innovation Incubator Consultant (regular or ad hoc), a Guest Presentation attendee, or both. We don’t anticipate a significant time commitment between meetings.
If you would like to participate in ICDD 2025-26, please submit this self-nomination form by Friday, August 29. Please let us know you if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
