Compliance Deadline: PCISA Agreement Due by November 15
UW Medicine requires all medical students to learn how to properly safeguard confidential information and comply with standards for personal accountability for data stewardship. This is an annual SOM and UW Medicine compliance requirement. All students, including concurrent degree/MSTP students and students on a leave of absence, are required to maintain compliance.
Complete the Privacy, Confidentiality and Information Security Agreement (PCISA) form by November 15, 2026.
Once done viewing the slides, click here to complete the PCISA Agreement. Please read through all points carefully before submitting.
Recap of the main points are:
- ENCRYPT your devices, never leave PHI in your car
- Watch out for phishing
- Don’t talk about patients on social media, even if you don’t mention names
- If an unencrypted device that is storing PHI is lost or stolen it is bad, very bad (UW subject to investigations, fines, lawsuits, sanctions etc.)
If you have follow-up questions on how to encrypt your devices, please reference the UW Medicine ITS Security webpage OR email SOM Academic and Learning Technologies group at somalt@uw.edu.
Reminder: Submit Your Nomination for Keynote Speaker for the Physician’s Oath & Hooding Ceremony
Nominations are open for the POHC keynote speaker until December 15. Current UWSOM/WWAMI faculty are eligible to be the keynote speaker for the ceremony.
Take a Quick Survey and Support Important Research!
Dr. Vincent Raikhel and 2 MS2s are working on a medical education research study examining medical student perceptions of research expectations for residency applications after going through the application process, particularly in light of recent changes to NRMP Charting Outcomes and ERAS.
The project is recruiting current MS4s to complete a brief 8-10 minute survey about their experiences with research and perceptions of its role in residency applications.
As a thank-you for participating, you’ll have the option to enter a raffle for one of five $20 Tango e-gift cards!
Participation is completely voluntary, and your survey responses are anonymous (raffle responses are collected separately). We appreciate any input and insights you can share, regardless of your level of research involvement.
Contact Lindsey Downie (email: lwd3@uw.edu) or Sami Elrazky (email: elrazkys@uw.edu) with questions.
This link will take you to past information for MS4s.
