It’s (Almost) Time for Explore & Focus (E&F) Preferencing!

Are you an MS4 student graduating after June 2027 who needs to add E&F coursework in Spring 2027 or Summer 2027? If so, Phase 2 EVOS Preferencing for non-permission E&F courses is coming soon!

EVOS is an automated process that simultaneously considers your clerkship preferences, your classmates’ clerkship preferences, and site availability to create the best E&F schedules for everyone.

  • Preferencing opens: Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at noon Pacific
  • Preferencing closes: Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM Pacific

Note: This is not first-come, first-served course selection. It does not matter when you enter and submit your preferences as long as you do so within the timeframe above.

Prepare now by reviewing the E&F Scheduling FAQ and watching the short EVOS Preferencing video. You can find much more information under the Explore & Focus Scheduling tab on the Registration & Records website.

Look for an email in your inbox with more details coming soon.

Call for Student Volunteers: Medical School Prerequisite Workgroup

UWSOM is seeking two 2nd-year students and two 4th-year students to serve on the Medical School Prerequisite Workgroup. This group will revisit the courses and competency areas we require prior to entering UWSOM. We hope to include representatives from across our five-state region.

The commitment is expected to include:

  • One 1-hour meeting per month for 12 months
  • A small amount of work between meetings

Meeting minutes will be provided and can serve as a resource if you are unable to attend a session – we know you’re very busy!

If you are interested, please email Jenny Wright, MD, Associate Dean for Curriculum, at sonic@uw.edu with a brief statement about why you would like to participate.

Take a Quick Survey and Support Important Research!

Dr. Vincent Raikhel and 2 MS2s are working on a medical education research study examining medical student perceptions of research expectations for residency applications after going through the application process, particularly in light of recent changes to NRMP Charting Outcomes and ERAS.

The project is recruiting current MS4s to complete a brief 8-10 minute survey about their experiences with research and perceptions of its role in residency applications.

As a thank-you for participating, you’ll have the option to enter a raffle for one of five $20 Tango e-gift cards!

Participation is completely voluntary, and your survey responses are anonymous (raffle responses are collected separately). We appreciate any input and insights you can share, regardless of your level of research involvement.
