Jennifer Harris (jharri25@uw.edu) is the the Program Manager with The Center for Workforce Inclusion and Healthcare System Equity (WIHSE) within the School of Medicine. WIHSE works with educationally and economically under-resourced students to expose them to health careers. During the school year, one of the academic enrichment programs offered on campus is the UW Health Careers Connection Program. This immersive program exposes high school students not only to our college campus but also gives insight into a career in healthcare.
WIHSE is able to provide these opportunities because of medical students like you who want to pour into the next generation of healthcare providers. We partner with providers, faculty, and medical students based in or rotating through Seattle.
We are looking for volunteers to create and lead a one-hour session for approximately 30 high school students. This can be a lecture, workshop, lab, or other hands-on activities.
Things to note:
* Each session has its own theme
* Held from 10 AM- 2 PM in two 1-hour blocks.
* 11 AM-12 PM
* 1 PM -2 PM
Here is the calendar with the dates and themes for your review: UW Health Careers connection Program Calendar 26-27
We urgently need support for our upcoming October 15, 1 PM-2 PM session covering the topic of Primary Care & Community Health.
If you are, or someone you know is, interested in volunteering with this program, please contact jharri25@uw.edu.
