VBC is a student-led organization that provides virtual and in-person musical concerts for hospitalized patients who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation. Our virtual and in-person format allows students to participate from Seattle or remotely from anywhere across the WWAMI region, while also giving patients’ family members outside the hospital the opportunity to listen in.
There is no required commitment, and volunteers can sign up for concerts that fit their schedules. Concerts are typically held on Saturdays and Sundays, with additional opportunities to schedule performances during the week.
We also occasionally reach out to volunteers when a patient receiving end-of-life care requests a concert through UW Medicine’s 3 Wishes Project (details here).
