Feona Hoy is spending her RUOP somewhere pretty fitting for someone building a career on showing up for people: North Pole, Alaska.
As a second-year student with Alaska WWAMI, Feona is using this rotation to dig into something she’s genuinely fired up about — how smaller communities deliver effective healthcare, and focusing on what it takes to make that work.
Her interest in medicine didn’t start in a classroom. It started in an emergency department in the Mat-Su Valley, where Feona spent five years as a medical scribe watching care happen in real time. That experience is exactly why she’s now pursuing Emergency Medicine and why her goal is to go back to that same ED and care for the community that first inspired her.
Off the clock, Feona swaps the exam room for the garden, and can often be found picking blueberries.
