The Idaho WWAMI program recently welcomed its newest cohort of Targeted Rural Underserved Track (TRUST) scholars during a special luncheon held on the first day of orientation, marking the beginning of their medical education journey.
The TRUST program prepares future physicians to serve rural and underserved communities by fostering meaningful, long-term connections throughout medical school. Over the next four years, each scholar will partner with a designated TRUST community, where they will build relationships with patients, physicians, and community members while gaining firsthand experience in the unique opportunities and challenges of rural medicine.
This continuity experience helps prepare graduates to provide high-quality, community-centered care in the places that need physicians most.
