Last month, we celebrated a remarkable achievement as 29 Montana WWAMI students crossed the stage at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, officially earning their Doctor of Medicine degrees. Among the graduates were eight Montana WWAMI TRUST scholars, whose medical education included an extended focus on serving rural and underserved communities throughout the state.
On May 22, 2026, we honored the Montana WWAMI graduating Class of 2026 during the Physician’s Oath and Hooding Ceremony. The graduates are part of the 77th class to receive the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. The Class of 2026 also marks Montana WWAMI’s 49th graduating class since joining WWAMI in 1973.
The ceremony represented a significant milestone in each graduate’s journey, recognizing years of dedication, perseverance and service. Surrounded by family members, friends, faculty and mentors, the graduates reflected on the experiences that shaped them into physicians and prepared them to care for patients and communities across the WWAMI region and beyond.
It was a privilege to participate in hooding our graduating students and to recognize the dedication and determination that brought them to this milestone. Family members, friends and supporters joined in celebrating the graduates as they recited the Physician’s Oath and embarked on the next chapter of their medical careers.
As Montana WWAMI students move on to residency training, they carry forward a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and a deep connection to the communities they serve.
