Torgerson received the Governor’s Cup Scholarship as a high school senior after demonstrating a strong commitment to public service, leadership and volunteerism. The scholarship allowed her to complete her undergraduate education without debt and ultimately pursue medical school through the Idaho WWAMI program.

“Idaho WWAMI is a critical program for training future physicians who are passionate about returning to serve our communities,” she said.

Torgeson said she has seen firsthand the need for more healthcare providers, especially in rural areas.

“WWAMI gives students like me the chance to pursue a high-quality medical education while staying connected to our home state,” she added.

Torgerson emphasized the value of programs like the Governor’s Cup Scholarship and Idaho WWAMI.

“These programs truly change lives and strengthen Idaho’s future healthcare workforce,” she said. “Speaking to the next generation of scholarship recipients gave me a chance to appreciate how much support like this has shaped my path,” she said.
