Specialty & Residency Planning Survey for Match 2026

On Friday, June 13 at 9:00 am PT, students applying to Match 2026 should have received an email from medadv@quemailserver.com with the subject line “Response Needed: Specialty & Residency Planning Survey for Match 2026 – Due June 23.” The email contains a Qualtrics survey link and is a trustworthy email. As Qualtrics is a new resource for UWSOM, the email may say “from an untrusted sender,” but this is a trustworthy link for a required survey. If you did not see this email in your inbox on Friday, June 13 after 9:00 am PT, please check your spam/junk folder and reach out to medadv@uw.edu if you cannot locate it.

Career Advising Student Advisory Board: Road to Residency Tip of the Month

This advice is for all MS3 students and includes first-generation and BIPOC student lenses.

As you start your last year of school, it is important to identify your support team for applying to residency. This may include specialty career advisors, college faculty, career advisors, attendings/residents, and family/friends. Your support system will offer invaluable guidance and mentorship while you apply to your desired specialty/ies. Now is also an ideal time to draft your personal statement and MSPE noteworthy characteristics bullet points with input from your support system. Remember to submit your personal statement to career advising for review prior to July 31st

Additionally, you should be narrowed down to one or two specialties of interest at this point in the year. If you are still deciding between specialties, consider taking the AAMC Specialty Indecision Scale to help you narrow down your fields of interest.
