Peer to Peer: Road to Residency Tip of the Month from Career Advising

This advice is for all students and includes first generation and BIPOC student lenses.

If you haven’t already, draft your CV and get it reviewed through Career Advising’s CV Review Session here — it’s super helpful!

Also, now can be a great time to start brainstorming ideas for your personal statement. All students use the Personal Statement Worksheet for their writing process. It is helpful to have your personal statement started early so you know your personal and specialty/s narrative well when asked about it on your rotations in your desired field. You’ll also be able to give the statement to your letter of recommendation writers, so they can write more personal letters. They may even offer feedback! Of course, you’ll add more to the personal statement after your summer rotations, but you can get started on it now using the Career Advising resources. During Integration Week in June, there will be a required Personal Statement workshop for everyone applying in Match 2026.
