The AAMC Organization of Student Representatives (OSR) has been working in collaboration with the UWSOM Office of Student Affairs, the national AAMC OSR group and Yale School of Medicine to participate in a multi-institutional research study about unmet basic needs of U.S. allopathic medical students.
We would like to invite you to participate in a short survey to evaluate the prevalence of unmet basic needs, such as food security, shelter stability, and transportation access, amongst our student body. The survey will only take a few minutes and will be immensely useful in helping us and the AAMC better understand the financial challenges faced by medical students and develop better resources and policies. To further incentivize participation, there will be a gift card raffle for 400 $25 giftcards at the completion of the study.
Results will be used to guide the consideration of additional support services and to evaluate medical student education program policies and practices, including Student Affairs and Financial Aid, at our institution.
Participation will be voluntary and anonymous, and answering some or all of the questions is optional. No one except you will know if you have participated, and your choice to participate will have no impact on your academic standing, relationship, or future financial aid at school.
Please email: bassel.shanab@yale.edu, pavan.khosla@yale.edu, or sasha.stogniy@yale.edu if you have any questions about the study.
Broad participation and response to this survey from across the WWAMI and all classes is needed, including soon to be graduating MS4s. Thanks for helping to support this important research.
