The Department of Global Health (DGH) is reaching out to share information about our Master of Public Health program at UW. DGH works with partners in School of Medicine to support medical students interested in completing the MPH degree concurrently. The MPH program is designed for individuals passionate about improving health outcomes and equity, advocacy, leadership, and health policy through research and practice on a global scale. By adding an MPH degree, medical students graduate with core public health competencies in:
- Research and analytic methods
- Proposal development and program management
- Implementation science and health systems strengthening
- Health metrics and evaluation
- And a deep understanding of the social, economic, and political determinants of health
Graduates emerge prepared to address health challenges both locally and internationally, from global disease prevention and health system development to policy innovation and humanitarian response.
The Autumn 2027 admission cycle is now open until December 7, 2026 for applicants interested in joining our next cohort. Eligible applicants may apply for SOPHAS fee waiver and UW Graduate fee waivers before the application deadline. To learn more about the application process, curriculum, focus areas, or student experiences, we invite you to attend one of our upcoming information sessions. Students are also welcome to schedule a meeting with the DGH to discuss how the MPH degree could fit with MD curriculum and professional goals.
DGH looks forward to connecting with future physician-leaders committed to advancing health equity worldwide!
