Montana WWAMI Welcomes New Faculty Leaders

Montana WWAMI welcomes several new faculty leaders and has expanded the roles of experienced educators, strengthening the program’s commitment to student mentorship, clinical education and professional development.

Dr. Shalina Lingley

Dr. Brenna Polsinelli, a Montana WWAMI graduate from the E-19 cohort, is serving as the program’s new primary care preceptorship (PCP) director. She completed her family medicine residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver and joined Bozeman Health’s family medicine service this summer. Her interests include medical education, global health and care for underserved populations.

Doctors Shalina Lingley and Katherine Runkel are serving as college mentors.

Dr. Lingley, a Montana WWAMI graduate from the E-2010 cohort, previously served as the internal medicine clerkship coordinator and geriatric clinic lead. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Washington and earned a Clinical Teaching Certificate through the Center for Leadership and Innovation in Medical Education (CLIME). In her expanded role, she will continue supporting medical education and student development.

Dr. Katherine Runkel
Dr. Anne Thomas

Dr. Runkel joined Bozeman Health’s geriatrics service after serving as an assistant professor in the University of Colorado’s Division of Geriatric Medicine since 2023. She earned her medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency and geriatrics fellowship at the University of Colorado. Her background in clinical education and mentorship will support Montana WWAMI students.

Dr. Anne Thomas is serving as the program’s family and community medicine (FCM) lead. She has been a Montana WWAMI college mentor since 2016, helping students with learning, advising and professional development. In her new role, she joins the program’s clinical education leadership team.

We are confident that this talented group of educators will continue our tradition of excellence in clinical education and mentorship, which is a hallmark of Montana WWAMI.
