We are excited to share some great news from the recent AAMC Graduation Questionnaire (GQ) results!
We recently received the 2025–2026 GQ results for UWSOM. Completed by the 2026 graduating class (UW E-22), the GQ asks students about the quality of their educational experience, including basic science, clerkships, and other educational activities.
There is a lot to celebrate: 90% of UWSOM GQ survey items showed an increase in student agreement.
Over the next six weeks, we’ll highlight results and improvement efforts across three areas: pre-clinical education, clinical education, and student services.
Overall Quality of Medical Education
95% of our 2026 graduating students reported being satisfied with the quality of their medical education—an increase of 3 percentage points over 2025 and above the national average.
What are we doing to strengthen the quality of medical education?
- The Innovations in Curriculum Design and Delivery (ICDD) workgroup has advanced a three-phase effort to strengthen curriculum design and delivery across all regional campuses. The workgroup developed 12 student-informed recommendations addressing areas such as active learning, cross-course consistency, and integration of academic support. It then partnered with UWSOM stakeholders to develop feasible implementation plans across sites. Since 2024, the workgroup has supported implementation teams through ongoing check-ins, guidance, and collaboration.
- In 2025, the Student Clerkship Partner program launched to strengthen communication between students and clerkship leadership. Three students are partnered with each required clerkship to gather and synthesize student feedback into actionable recommendations. Student Clerkship Partners also help share important information with their peers.

What are we doing to strengthen clinical skills development?
- In 2025, the Curriculum Committee charged a workgroup with conducting a comprehensive needs assessment of how effectively the pre-clinical (Foundations) curriculum prepares students for the clinical phase of medical education. This work will provide an evidence-based foundation for strengthening assessment in the Foundations Phase, aligning competency-based medical education across all four years, and ensuring students are prepared to participate safely and effectively in the clinical learning environment.
