Wyoming WWAMI is proud to celebrate our outstanding clinical educators who earned WRITE (WWAMI Rural Integrated Training Experience) – Excellence in Teaching Awards this year.
Dr. Mattson Mathey, practicing in Thermopolis, WY and Dr. Clint McMahill, practicing in Fremont County, WY, were both honored with the award, which is based on nominations from students participating in the WRITE program, a longitudinal rural clerkship that places University of Washington School of Medicine students in communities across the WWAMI region.
One student wrote of working with Dr. Mathey that he “was an incredible resource for me throughout WRITE. As a WWAMI grad himself, he understood my experience and how to best prepare me for my other rotations.”
Another student placed with Dr. McMahill wrote that “Dr. McMahill has changed my path in medicine in a very positive way. He serves as an example of what being a good doctor means in a rural community.”
Both Dr. Mathey and Dr. McMahill are also alumni of Wyoming WWAMI. We are grateful for everything our preceptors do for our students, and so excited to see our alumni mentoring future generations of Wyoming physicians!
