Dr. Joel Carey is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Washington and a faculty clinician with UW Medicine Primary Care, where he practices Family Medicine in an urban underserved clinic. He earned his M.D. from the University of Kansas and subsequently completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Washington. Dr. Carey serves as the Family Medicine Clerkship Site Director and as Physician Lead for Medical Student Education at UW Medicine Primary Care. In these roles, he is deeply involved in fostering excellence in clinical teaching among medical students and UW faculty. His professional interests include caring for underserved populations, medical education and mentorship, and integrating public health principles into primary care practice.
Outside of work, Dr. Carey enjoys exploring other cultures through travel, SCUBA diving, mountain biking, and spending time with his family.
