A familiar face has stepped into a new role at Idaho WWAMI. Rayme Geidl, MD, a longtime educator, practicing physician, and proud Idahoan, has been named Interim Regional Dean for the Idaho WWAMI Medical Education Program.
Dr. Geidl’s journey is deeply rooted in Idaho. Raised in Troy and a graduate of the University of Idaho, she earned her MD from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency in Spokane, Washington. After several years serving in community health, she returned to Moscow in 2004, where she’s been a cornerstone of both the medical and academic communities.
As the founder and physician at Northwest Metabolic Medicine, Dr. Geidl specializes in Obesity Medicine and brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and educational leadership to her new role. She’s been a WWAMI preceptor since 2006, joined the faculty in 2019, and became Associate Director of Clinical Education in 2020.
Now, as Interim Regional Dean, Dr. Geidl is focused on three key priorities:
- Empowering students and faculty
“Our students’ dedication and faculty’s innovation inspire me and give me tremendous hope for Idaho’s future,” she says. “I’ll be a strong advocate for their success, academically, professionally, and personally.” - Building stronger partnerships
Dr. Geidl is committed to deepening collaboration between the University of Idaho WWAMI program, sister institutions, clinical partners, and community stakeholders to elevate medical education and patient care across the state. - Expanding Idaho’s physician workforce
With Idaho facing a critical physician shortage, Dr. Geidl is ready to lead efforts that will grow and support the next generation of doctors. “Our state is rallying with focus and determination, and I’m honored to be part of the solution.”
Dr. Geidl succeeds Dr. Jeffrey Seegmiller, who accepted a position at Brigham Young University School of Medicine in May 2025.
When she’s not teaching or treating patients, Dr. Geidl enjoys exploring Idaho’s rivers and forests with her family. She’s also a self-proclaimed sci-fi enthusiast.
Her leadership marks an exciting new chapter for Idaho WWAMI. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Geidl to her new role!
