Curriculum Dates to Know
August 11: Summer A term ends this week and Summer B starts Monday. Congratulations to those completing a clerkship or the SASC course. Please remember to make sure to get two Workplace Based Assessments (WBAs) per week in required clerkships (COMPASS – UWSOM Intranet). There have been over 2,000 WBAs submitted by preceptors and 2788 submitted by students so far since launching the program in March. Incredible work!

Applying in Radiation Oncology Networking Session
The American College of Radiation Oncology—Radiation Oncology Virtual Education Rotation (ACRO-ROVER) presents the fifth annual networking session targeted towards MS3s and MS4s interested in radiation oncology. The session will be held on September 18 at 4pm PST over Zoom breakout rooms, which will be shuffled every 15 minutes. There will be residents and faculty representation from various institutions to answer questions.

Career Advising Student Advisory Board: Road to Residency Tip of the Month
This advice is for all students and includes first-generation and BIPOC student lenses.
Explore and Focus scheduling comes up pretty quickly in the fall for MS3s. Start looking in the Explore & Focus Clerkship Catalog soon to see what options might be possible. Also talk to students ahead of you to learn about their experiences and get advice BEFORE the scheduling process begins. Watch Career Advising’s session last month on Early Career Planning for the Explore & Focus Phase and/or see the slide deck for a preview of 4th year career planning steps in the next six months.
The Guide to 4th Year Planning website has all the information in one place to help you understand how to plan your upcoming Explore & Focus phase and will be updated by October with information relevant to your class. The Explore & Focus Clerkships website is a great resource to learn about electives, APCs and Sub-Is.
