Snake River Community Clinic Volunteers

Making a meaningful impact on the lives of others is what drives our Idaho WWAMI students. The volunteers of the Snake River Community Clinic have a passion for delivering quality healthcare to underserved populations in Lewis-Clark Valley and outlying areas. For a quarter century, the nonprofit has offered free medical, limited dental and behavioral healthcare for uninsured or underinsured individuals and families. The volunteers, including first year Idaho WWAMI students, help run the clinic.

“It’s amazing to see the difference these resources make for people who might otherwise go without care,” said Idaho WWAMI student and clinic volunteer co-lead Andrew Sagendorf.

Their involvement provides essential support while providing a setting where they can improve their skills.

“I love working with the patients, and it provides me with a great opportunity to practice my clinical skills,” said Idaho WWAMI student and co-lead Chase Crandall.

Making a difference in the lives of those who need it most is also very fulfilling.

Guzul Shukir

“Being an immigrant, my family and I have experienced some of the difficulties clinic patients face,” said Guzal Shukur, Idaho WWAMI student and clinic volunteer co-lead. “Giving back to this community has been extremely rewarding,”

“Every shift I volunteer for and every person I see reminds me of why I’m going into medicine,” said Sagendorf.
