Intro to Patient Care information session coming Monday, July 8, 2024
There will be a 60-minute information session regarding the Patient Care Phase and Special Programs including the Track Program, WWAMI Rural Integrated Training Experience (WRITE) and Olympia Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) on Monday, July 8, starting at 12 p.m. AK, 1 p.m. PT and 2 p.m. MT.
This meeting will be recorded and sent out afterwards for those unable to attend. Please review the video, slides and FAQ on the Special Programs website. The team will address any questions completed in the questionnaire ahead of time, as well as questions in real time.

A message from Sara Kim, PhD, research professor, surgery, and associate dean for Educational Quality Improvement: Thank you to everyone who helped raise the survey response rate from 81 to 83 percent!
Spokane further increased its response rate to 92 percent. We appreciate your ongoing contribution. While Seattle’s rate grew by 1 percentage point to reach 87 percent, the rest of the campus rates remained the same: Wyoming (90 percent) and Montana (83 percent), Idaho (75 percent) and Alaska (58 percent). We are hoping a few more Alaska students will complete the survey, and we will close it.
Please see the incentive breakdown by campus in the table below. You can choose to use your gift card with different vendors such as Amazon, Apple, Uber Eats, and many other stores, restaurants and movie theatres!

Note: We will be publishing this announcement every week through July 25.
Students who require clerkship location accommodations to manage their personal medical conditions/disabilities must apply for and be approved by the office prior to July 26, 2024. It can take 2-5 weeks, sometimes longer, to be approved for accommodation with DRS, so start the process as soon as possible (and no later than July 12). Please note that “maintaining health insurance coverage” does not qualify as a disability.
- If you are not currently registered with DRS: Fill out a “new student application” and submit your documentation via the DRS services website. After your application (including medical documentation) is submitted, you will be scheduled for an access planning meeting with a DRS access coordinator.
- If you are already receiving accommodation through DRS: Please schedule an appointment with Kowan Russell, uwdrs@uw.edu, if you want to discuss clerkship locations.

Peer to Peer: Tip of the Month from Career Advising
Congratulations on finishing MS1! Update your Activity Tracker to track your involvement with various organizations. It is used for service awards and helps with organization when building your CV. Trust me, waiting until MS4 to input all your work can be exhausting.
If you can work it into your schedule this summer, try to do a few UWorld or AMBOSS questions for Step 1 – a little each day will help once dedicated comes around!
