Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association announces gatherings

Published on

A message from the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association: The Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association is starting the APAMSA Journal Club, a biweekly gathering where we can get together and discuss important articles and topics related to AAPI experiences in healthcare. Each meeting, someone will present an article of their choice and we will have open discussions on the issues presented. Everyone is welcome to join and encouraged to read the article beforehand to ensure the best conversations.

If you are interested in joining, please fill out this whenisgood to find a biweekly time to meet and also make sure you’re in our Slack. Meetings will be on Zoom to ensure that students from all sites are able to join.

The first presenter will be Lucy Tian on the article South Asians and Cardiovascular Disease: The Hidden Threat (very relevant to M1’s current block!). The topic of South Asian heart health is gaining much-needed exposure as the $1 million South Asian Heart Health Awareness and Research Act was passed in July 2022.
