UWSOM staff member changes roles

Published on

UWSOM’s Leonora Clarke is transitioning from Service Learning lead to take on a new role as the associate director of UWSOM’s Washington Area Health Education Center (AHEC).

“Leonora has done an amazing job developing Service Learning. She has helped it to grow, created policies and procedures, increased participation markedly and, most impressively, has had a personal touch for Service Learning across our five-state region,” said John McCarthy, M.D., assistant dean for Rural Programs. “Her name has become synonymous with service to disenfranchised groups.”

Clarke was recognized in 2022 by medical students with the MSA Outstanding Staff Award. Clarke will continue her work supporting disenfranchised populations across the state with the intent of creating a workforce to serve these under-resourced groups.
