FAMED 561 Introduction to LGBTQ Health Issues & Disparities (1 cr.)

Mondays – Fall Quarter 2023 / 5:30–6:50 p.m. PST (Oct 2nd – Dec 4th, 2023)

This course will have a Hybrid format; students from Seattle & WWAMI may opt to attend via Zoom or in person.

FAMED 561 will help students gain the necessary background to provide our gender and sexual

minority populations an inclusive and culturally humble care standard. This course is always open to all professional students, i.e. medical, social work, pharmacy, nursing, etc. Students must attend synchronously.

MED 557 Hispanic Health and Health Disparities (1 cr.)

Faculty Director: Dr. Rudy Rodriguez

Tuesdays – Fall Quarter 2023 / 5:30–6:50 p.m. PST (Oct 3rd – Dec 5th, 2023)

MED 557 meets only via Zoom – is a virtual based Zoom class; overview/survey course format with formal  networking and introductions to esteemed leaders and physicians in our community; focus on past, present and future healthcare disparities related to Latinx populations, underserved communities, and beyond. This course is always open to all professional students, i.e. medical, social work, pharmacy, nursing, etc. Students must attend synchronously.

FAMED 525 African American Health & Health Disparities (1 cr.)

Faculty Director(s): Dr. Patricia Egwuatu and Dr. Peter Asante

Thursdays – Fall Quarter 2023 / 5:30–6:50 p.m. PST (Sept. 28 ‐ Dec. 7, 2023)

This course will have a hybrid option for students – Seattle students will meet in person for the majority of weeks, whereas WWAMI‐students will log‐in virtually via Zoom. Examples of justice efforts, developing and implementing anti‐racist curricula, working with community agents dedicated change, and strategizing current policies and systems. This course is always open to all professional students, i.e. medical, social work, pharmacy, nursing, etc. Students must attend synchronously.
