COVID-19 update for students

Published on

There are increasing reports of COVID-19 this summer. Here is what you need to know if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms:

  • Take a COVID test and if you test positive:
  • Treat COVID-19 as any other illness in a classroom or clinical setting — stay home.
  • Foundations Phase students: Notify UWSOM by contacting your Foundations dean.
  • Clinical Phase students: Notify your site director and/or clerkship director and follow the COVID recommendations and guidelines at your clerkship facility, including the amount of time off and when you can return to clinical care.

You can find a lot more information about absences in the MD Program Handbook.  Do you have other questions about COVID? You can find a lot of information at local public health websites; here’s a detailed report this week from King County, Washington and here is more information from the Washington Department of Health about COVID
