Its population is 3,976 (2021) and sits at an elevation of 5,096 feet. Dillon is situated in a sweeping valley into which the Ruby, Big Hole and Beaverhead Rivers drain. The Beaverhead River is a blue-ribbon trout stream that&#8217;s a favorite for expert fly fishermen. Beaverhead County is the largest cattle producing county in Montana and is home to many generational ranches. There are several museums in Dillon devoted to preserving local history, with over 50 buildings that line Main Street recalling Montana&#8217;s formative years. Major employers include: The United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Barrett Minerals, and Barrett Hospital &amp; HealthCare. He did his residency with North Colorad<span style=\"font-family: inherit;font-size: inherit\">o Family\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: inherit;font-size: inherit\">Medicine with a surgical and obstetrical emphasis set in a rural community of 2000 people. Dr. Hansen was a self-employed family medicine physician in Dillon, Montana<\/span><span style=\"font-family: inherit;font-size: inherit\">\u00a0from 2002-2009, and has been employed by Barrett since 2009. He is a professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine and enjoys teaching the next generation of medical professionals here in Dillon. She earned her Bachelor of Science in chemistry, graduating with highest honors from<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2989\" src=\"https:\/\/education.uwmedicine.org\/somrural\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/megan-evans.png\" alt=\"Dr. Megan Evans, a woman with brown hair, glasses, and a light green sweater.\" width=\"165\" height=\"231\" \/> Montana State University in 2003. She continued her education and earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2008. Megan completed the Montana Family Medicine Residency program in Billings, MT in 2011, acting as chief resident in the final year. She was also able to participate in a rotation providing rural medical care in Mongolia during her residency.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Evans started as a medical provider at Southwest Montana Community Health Center in 2011 working at the Dillon CHC Clinic. Her areas of interest include obesity, sports medicine, complementary and alternative medicine, and health literacy. Dr. Evans is also the Health Officer for Beaverhead County and the Quality Assurance Physician at Bullhook Community Health Center in Havre. Dr. Evans received the Cindy Stergar Award for patient-centered care in 2015. She is a member of the Montana Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Evans is a FMCSA DOT\/CDL certified medical examiner, Family Medicine Specialty Board Certified, and is DEA certified. She also carries a DEA X-waiver. She became a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2018. As a fully staffed medical facility, Barrett Hospital &amp; HealthCare is the closest hospital for many people in the region, but more importantly, people choose Barrett for its highly skilled staff, compassionate care and unparalleled service.<\/p>\n<p>Our OB physicians deliver about 75 babies annually. Along with Family Practice physicians and Internists, surgeons, and EM physicians, the Barrett Clinic also provides OB\/Gyn care, Specialty Care, Rehabilitation services, Behavioral Health services, Nutrition services, Lab, Radiology, and a Walk-In Clinic. Between employed specialists and visiting specialists, we include Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, Oncology, Vascular, Pain Management &amp; Intervention, Podiatry, Tele-Psych, and Tele-Sleep services.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"writesiteContentTitle\"><strong>Hospital:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Barrett Hospital &amp; HealthCare is a critical access hospital, with 17 total beds, two OB beds, as well as a seven-bed ER. Barrett Hospital &amp; HealthCare is a five-time recipient for being a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital of the 20 highest ranked Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) in the nation by National Rural Health Association (NRHA).<\/p>\n<p>The organization is dedicated to providing rural health care providers for future generations. Play is important, both summer and winter. Location and size may vary, but are typically 1-2 bedrooms, fully furnished with WIFI, television, and are no more than a few blocks from the clinic campus. Pets may be allowed. In some rare occasions, based upon availability, same-gender roommates might be appointed, who are also partaking in a rotation at Barrett.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transportation: <\/strong>It is recommended that students have a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Climate: <\/strong>Dillon, Montana is situated in a valley that is 5,200 feet above sea level with the Continental Divide on three sides. As Montana weather goes, we tend to be in the banana belt with less snow and milder temps.
