Getting Ready for UWSOM Online Teaching Sessions via Zoom

Greetings all,

As you know, starting on Monday, March 9th, all University of Washington Seattle classroom and other face-to-face teaching sessions are suspended. We are writing to let you know about the University’s and the School of Medicine’s technology plans for enabling scheduled in-person classes and small group sessions in Seattle, and across WWAMI in the event that it becomes necessary, to be delivered online via Zoom and Canvas. We are working with faculty to help make these sessions as interactive as possible and hope to minimize the impact of taking these sessions out of the classroom and of being at a distance from each other.

The University of Washington has made Zoom Pro accounts available at no cost to all UW faculty, staff, and students. Please visit the Zoom information page on the UW Medicine Student Technology website – https://education.uwmedicine.org/technology/zoom-videoconferencing/ – for detailed instructions on signing up for a Zoom account, signing in for the first time, or switching from a Standard account to a HIPAA compliant account.

Students will find the Zoom meeting connection links for your large lecture and small group sessions on your Canvas course website and/or will receive further emails with links and other details.

Please contact the SOMALT (somalt at uw.edu<mailto:somalt at uw.edu>) help with Zoom or other technologies used in distance delivery of our curriculum.

We hope that you are all staying healthy.
